Getting direct feedback from Grant Taylor himself, Nike SB introduced the GT Blazer Low PRO in January 2021. Although we got our first look of the revamped model with the Quickstrike release in June of 2020, it is exciting to see it officially integrated into the lineup. Higher foxing tape, a mixed material upper, and an updated storyline are all part of the new release. Now I have not yet put my GT PROs through the ringer but upon first glance they appear to be a more robust version of the GT Blazer Low. Check out the review below to see how these two models compare to one another. I will follow up with a full wear test review of the GT Blazer Low PRO shortly.

GT Blazer Low PRO vs. GT Blazer Low

Foxing Tape - The most obvious difference is the higher foxing tape on the GT Blazer PRO. This on-trend update adds more structure and durability to the shoe and also mixes up the design. I like the appearance of it, especially when I am looking down at my feet while skating. The functional benefit of it is making the shoe more tough. The higher tape helps preserve the canvas and suede on the upper.

Mixed Material Upper - What also sets the GT Blazer Low PRO apart from its predecessor is the mixed materials construction of the upper. A high durable suede covers the forefoot while the half back of the shoe features canvas.

Race-inspired Story - The 'Grant Taylor' branding is more prevalent through the PRO with an updated tongue and insole sporting a Chevy El Camino Super Sport stripe design. Incorporating this theme makes sense because Grant's skating is always pedal to the metal.

Similarities - Outside of the three differences listed above these models are very similar. In both shoes you get a zoom air unit insole, elastic tongue centering straps, and the classic Blazer tread pattern on the sole. One of my favorite parts of this shoe is the elastic straps on the tongue. These enhance the overall fit and make it feel as though the shoe is more of an extension of your foot. Plus, if you happen to rip through laces you don't have to worry about losing your shoes because they are more secured to your foot.

This comparison was speaking more to the similarities and differences and not so much my skating experience but I will have a full wear test review of the GT Blazer Low PRO up soon!
